Noreen Wardle, 68, ran up a string of debts on catalogues and store cards.

Bailiffs were often seen outside her modest two-bedroom semi where she lives surrounded by her treasured collection of porcelain dolls.

Friends say she alerted the official receiver to her plight fearing the loss of her possessions.

Noreen, mother of Cal-lie's dad Jeff Rogers, told one: "I'm in such a state now you would never believe my granddaugher is a lottery winner."

Mum-of-one Callie, 18, of High Harrington, Cumbria, has admitted her £1.9million win in July 2003 "ruined my life".

Last November the former shopgirl survived after taking an overdose as she battled depression.

She was targeted by malicious phone calls, had her house burgled and saw relationships fall apart.

She declined to comment yesterday on her grandmother's bankruptcy.
