Lucky Mark Robinson,
31, of Holmefield Road, Whitwell, missed the
first number but matched all the remaining five
and the bonus ball to earn him a cool £63,611.
He was watching the draw live on Saturday.
But instead of splashing out on a luxury holiday
or a new car, Mark is putting it all straight
into a savings account.
"This is my opportunity to get my life back on
track and get sorted. I've wasted money in the
past but now I just want a job," he said.
"I don't want to sponge anymore. I haven't had a
job in five years but now I want to contribute
to society."
Born in Worksop, Mark now lives in Whitwell with
his family. After leaving Valley School he
worked at Manton's Courtaulds factory until 2000
but has been unemployed ever since.
"I've had too much of a celebratory lifestyle.
I'm going to stop drinking and smoking. I'm not
doing anything with the money until I get a
job."
Mark had only been playing the Lotto for three
weeks when he struck lucky. But it wasn't all
down to chance.
"I looked at last week's numbers and tried to
follow a pattern. Three of these were birthday
numbers but the rest I worked out," said Mark.
"It's a bit like dot to dot but sometimes I
follow a sequence. I've always been good at
maths," he said.
"I wouldn't say I'm gifted but more often than
not things have happened seconds after I've
thought of them."
Twenty five other winners shared the prize fund
with Mark who bought his lucky ticket from the
Co-op in Whitwell.
And despite having an expanding new bank
balance, Mark is keeping a level head.
"I've done all right. I could have had another
number, but I'm happy," he said.
"I'm excited but I don't think it's sunk in
yet," he said. "I'll buy some new clothes, sort
out a car licence and give some money to my
daughter. But most of it is going straight into
a savings account."
Mark went out with friends on Saturday night in
Whitwell to celebrate his win – but champagne
was not on the menu.
"I prefer lager. I got some champagne from the
lottery but I'm not that bothered. I just hope
someone reading this will give me a job."
